A Bathroom Worth Falling in Love With

Project overview

Construction: Guest Bathroom Renovation, Interior Paint, Kitchen Cabinet Painting & New Lighting

Project: Guest Bathroom & First Floor Refresh

location: Gilroy, CA

focus: Classic Coastal Design with Timeless East Coast Charm

Sometimes all it takes is one room.

When our clients first reached out, they weren't planning a whole-home refresh. They simply wanted to transform an outdated upstairs guest bathroom into a space that finally reflected their style.

Empty nesters with a love for entertaining and timeless design, they had long been inspired by the warm, inviting homes in Something's Gotta Give. Their vision was classic East Coast—bright, layered, and effortlessly welcoming.

The existing bathroom felt stuck in another era. Taupe walls, taupe tile, a bulky tub-shower combination, medicine cabinet mirrors, and a short oak vanity made the room feel dark and dated.

They wanted something completely different.

PROJECT SCOPE

What began as a bathroom renovation naturally expanded into a first-floor refresh, including:
• Complete guest bathroom renovation
• Walk-in shower with pony wall and glass enclosure
• Furniture-style double vanity
• Marble vanity countertop
• Marble shower walls and floor
• Polished nickel plumbing fixtures
• Custom mirrors and wall sconces
• Wood wall paneling
• Interior paint throughout the first floor
• Kitchen cabinet painting
• Recessed can lighting throughout the main living spaces

OUR APPROACH

We started fresh, removing everything down to the studs and reimagining the room as a light-filled coastal retreat.

The oversized tub was replaced with a spacious walk-in shower featuring a pony wall and glass enclosure, allowing natural light to flow throughout the room. A furniture-style double vanity became the centerpiece, while polished nickel fixtures, marble surfaces, wall sconces, and custom mirrors layered in timeless elegance.

To warm the space, we added wood paneling throughout the room, creating the feeling of a classic East Coast cottage while subtly drawing the eye upward to make the room feel taller.

The finished bathroom felt exactly as they had imagined.
So much so that the project didn't stop there.

Favorite Features

A Showpiece Vanity

Designed to feel like a beautiful piece of furniture instead of built-in cabinetry, the double vanity brings warmth and character while providing generous storage.

Timeless Materials
Marble surfaces, polished nickel fixtures, and layered lighting create a space that feels collected rather than trendy—beautiful today and for years to come.

Light, Bright & Open
Replacing the enclosed tub with a walk-in shower and glass enclosure completely transformed the feel of the room, making it brighter, more open, and much more functional.

The Result

What started as one bathroom became the beginning of an entirely new chapter for their home.

As we worked together, we became fast friends, and one completed room inspired the next. Fresh paint, updated lighting, and newly painted kitchen cabinetry carried that same classic coastal feeling throughout the first floor, creating a home that feels lighter, brighter, and more connected.

The guest bathroom may have been the first project, but it certainly won't be the last. In fact, we're already dreaming together about the next renovation—their primary bathroom.
