Every homeowner reaches the moment when a house finally becomes their home.
After purchasing her home in 2020 for its location and spacious lot, our client spent the first few years transforming the exterior. Once the outside matched her vision, she was ready to focus on the spaces she lived in every day.
The first floor was untouched since the 1980s. Three different flooring materials broke up the space, upper cabinets made the kitchen feel closed off, and the original guest bathroom no longer fit her lifestyle. She knew exactly what she wanted—a brighter home, durable flooring that could keep up with her 120-pound Rottweiler, and a kitchen she was proud to gather around during her annual Friendsgiving.
We didn't change the footprint of the home. We simply updated it to match the way she wanted to live.
PROJECT SCOPE
This first-floor renovation included:
• Custom kitchen cabinetry
• Quartz countertops
• Full-height herringbone tile backsplash
• New sink and plumbing fixtures
• Existing appliances integrated into the new design
• Statement range hood
• Under-cabinet lighting
• New wood flooring throughout the first floor
• Laundry room refresh
• Complete guest bathroom renovation with a larger vanity and new shower
• Interior paint throughout the first floor
OUR APPROACH
This renovation wasn't about making the home bigger—it was about making it feel intentional.
By removing upper cabinets, installing continuous wood flooring throughout the first floor, and layering in timeless finishes, we created a home that feels brighter, more cohesive, and ready for everything from everyday mornings to hosting friends.
The result is a space that feels thoughtfully updated without losing the character that made her fall in love with the home in the first place.
Favorite Features
A Statement Backsplash
Extending the herringbone tile to the ceiling creates a striking focal point while adding texture and character to the kitchen.
Under-Cabinet Lighting
Layered lighting makes the kitchen feel warm and inviting, whether she's preparing dinner or hosting friends late into the evening.
A Kitchen That Finally Fits Her Style
From the statement hood to the clean quartz countertops, every detail reflects her personal style—including saying goodbye to the original grout-lined tile countertops.
The Result
Today, every space on the first floor feels connected.
Her annual Friendsgiving has the kitchen it deserves, guests naturally gather around the island, and every time someone walks through the front door, she's proud to call it home.
